The tobacco is harvested and air cured in a fully shaded large barn for a few weeks, then fires are lit at the base of the barn and are allowed to burn for approximately 40 days. The smoke from the wood slabs that are burning at the base of the barn produce a dark fired tobacco that is predominantly used for pipe blends and cigar fillers.
