Black Mammoth,

 

A species of tobacco originating from the United Stated, Black Mammoth is the species for which we are annually asked the most questions about. Here at TSG it is also one of our favorite species

It produces a heavy leaf and performs very well in warm environments.

The tobacco is ready for harvesting between  50-60 days post transplant.

 

Use and Flavor:

 

Black Mammoth produces a light spicy flavor with medium nicotine levels. The flavors of this plant are massively relevant to the type of soil that it is grown in. The color of the final leaf product is also.

Black Mammoth is also used for chew and cigar tobacco. In cigars it is commonly blended or used as a single species. Recently, it has found itself into the pipe tobacco world.

Black Mammoth is traditionally an air cured tobacco, after which it is fermented to produce cigar tobacco.

 

Growth:

 

This tobacco grows to approximately 8-10 ft in high quality soils, the leaves it produces are heavy and cure to a light brown color.

It is a medium/high yield plant and it grows quickly in  most soil and climatic conditions.

It produces intense yellow/green flowers with a white tint at the pedal.

Fast maturing plant –  50-60 days.
