A species of tobacco originating from the United States.
Dark Burley produces a brown colored tobacco when cured. It is a species that lives well in most environments and produces massive leafs usually extending over 800mm.
Dark Burley is one of the most widely used tobaccos for pipes and cigarettes. It matures rapidly and produces massive yields of cured tobacco.
The tobacco is ready for harvesting between 50-60 days post transplant.
It is worthy to note that this tobacco (like Virginia and Orientals) is a historic landmark in the tobacco industry since its discovery in the early 1800’s.
Use and Flavor:
Dark Burley produces a light earthy and spicy flavor with medium/low nicotine levels. It is also slightly salty and is one of the ideal tobaccos (along with virginias and other burleys) used for the production of cavendish tobacco.
Burley is commonly used for cigarette and pipe tobacco.
Bruley is traditionally an air cured tobacco.
This tobacco grows to approximately 6-7 ft tall in high quality soils, the leaves it produces are heavy and cure to a brown color.
It is a high yield plant and it grows quickly in most soil and climatic conditions.
It produces intense pink flowers.
Plant matures and tobacco is ready to harvest in 50-60 days post transplant.
