Harrow Velvet,
Harrow Velvet is a tobacco introduced in the 1930s as a multipurpose tobacco.
This tobacco can be used for plug, cigarette,pipe and cigar blends. In cigars it is primarily used as a good filler tobacco.
I produces large leaves (approximately 24″ long and 12″ wide).
When cured this tobacco produces golden yellow leaves that have a mild flavor.
This species has been bred to resist black rot and in fact it is one of the strongest and most hardy tobacco species available.
Use and Flavor:
Commonly used as plug tobacco and cigarette, pipe and cigar blends.
Harrow Velvet has a medium flavor.
Growth:
This tobacco grows to >5.00 ft in high quality soils, the leaves it produces are >25″ and >15″ wide, and cure to a light brown color.
It is a high yield plant and it grows quickly in good soil and climatic conditions.
It produces white, bell-like flowers, with a pinkish/reddish hue at the petals.
Fast maturing plant –Â 65-75 days.
